Instructions

Pre-Treatment
Post-Treatment
  1. The treatment cannot be done if you have any infections or cold sores. If you have a history of cold sores or blisters, please let us know so we can prescribe antiviral medication in time to make sure you are ready for your appointment.
  2. It is advised to stop any kind of hair removal treatment – whether it’s tweezing, waxing, shaving or electrolysis – in the area you’d like to have treated 4 weeks before your treatment.
  3. Avoid sun exposure – especially tanning – as much as possible at least 4 weeks before your treatment. The more tan your skin is, the less effective the treatment is and the higher your odds are of developing hyperpigmentation or blisters.
  4. 2 weeks before your treatment, avoid self-tanners.
  5. Please consult your provider if you’re on antibiotics 2 weeks before your treatment. Some antibiotics like Tetracycline or Doxycycline can make you photosensitive.
  6. A week before your treatment appointment, avoid any skin products that contain Retin-A, Triluma, Vitamin C, Nair, Differin or Tazorac. These products may make your skin sensitive to laser treatment.
  7. On the day of your treatment, keep the treatment area clean – avoid makeup, deodorant, lotion or perfume.
  8. On your treatment day, do not take pain killers like ibuprofen or aspirin – it thins the blood, which may lead to unwanted side effects with a laser treatment.
  1. You will notice your hair is still in the treated area. This is normal. The hair will shed within 2 weeks. Kindly avoid waxing or tweezing these hairs in or between laser hair removal treatments. If you are uncomfortable with the hair shedding in 2 weeks, you can shave the area.
  2. An ice pack should reduce the redness and swelling you may notice after your treatment.
  3. Only clean the treated area sensitively on the day of your treatment and following it. This means you can use a sensitive soap with water, patting the area dry.
  4. Only resume skincare products with Retin-A, Triluma, Vitamin C, Nair, Differin or Tazorac after at least 3 days.
  5. If your underarms were treated, use alcohol to clean your underarms for the first 24hours. You can resume deodorant use after 24-48 hours.
  6. If you develop any blisters or scabs, do not pick at them; this may cause scarring.
  7. Avoid sunlight as much as you can after your treatment. This means using a daily sunscreen with a high SPF that contains zinc oxide.
  8. Although you can continue with sunless tanning after your treatment, it’s important to avoid it at least 2 weeks before your next treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does laser hair removal work?

Laser hair removal leverages the power of laser light. Laser light has the ability to heat and harm dark hair follicles impairing their ability to create new hairs.

A certified aesthetician will use a hand-held laser to the area you’d like to have treated very quickly.

How many laser treatments do you need for complete hair removal?

The number of laser hair removal treatments you need to remove the hair from a specific area depends on the area location and what your hair growth in that area looks like. However, it typically takes about 6 – 8 treatments and your hair regrowth should be less after each treatment.

Treatments are spaced out, depending on the area, between 4 – 8 weeks apart. The goal here is to treat all the hair follicles through their natural growth cycle.

How long does one laser hair removal treatment take?

Typically, one hair removal treatment takes about 15 to 30 minutes depending on the area and its size.

How long does laser hair removal last?

Laser hair removal is one of the longest-lasting hair removal treatment, however, the exact time period really differs from person to person, because hair growth depends on hormones. Usually, it lasts for a few years; it can last up to 10 years and maintenance treatments can be used to upkeep hair removal. Laser hair removal on the body often lasts longer than on the face.

Is laser hair removal painful?

No, laser hair isn’t painful. The laser may feel like being lightly snapped with a rubber band.

How often do you have to do laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal typically lasts many years, but does depend on the treatment area and each person’s unique hormone fluctuations. The longer-lasting effects are often seen on the body, while shorter periods are seen on the face. Laser hair removal is more effective on coarse hair compared to fine hair. Touch-ups may be desired on areas that have shorter-lasting hair removal.

Does laser hair removal work on all hair types?

At Pride, we offer amazing laser technology that can treat most types of hair growth. Typically laser beam light is drawn to dark pigment; consequently, it’s more effective on areas of dark hair and lighter skin. It’s best to stay away from sun exposure or lightening your hair before a treatment to increase the contrast.
