  1. For 1 to 3 days before your microdermabrasion treatment, avoid Retin-A or exfoliating products. 
  2. A week before your treatment it’s important to avoid sun exposure as much as possible. Don’t tan or use any tanning products. 
  3. Cancel your microdermabrasion appointment immediately if you have recently undergone any form of laser surgery or if you used Accutane. 
  4. Do not book a microdermabrasion treatment for at least 2 weeks after other skin procedures like a chemical peel or filler injections.
  5. Do not book a microdermabrasion treatment for at least one week after a Botox injection. 
  6. A few days before your microdermabrasion appointment, avoid waxing the area of skin where you’ll be having the microdermabrasion treatment.
  7. Arrive at your appointment with a clean, make-up-free face and make sure you wash your face and your neck with a cleaner that isn’t oil or soap-based. 
  1. After your microdermabrasion treatment, use a gentle cleanser to clean your face. 
  2. Make sure you keep your skin clean and moisturized. 
  3. Avoid picking, rubbing or scratching the treated area. 
  4. For one week after your treatment, make sure you don’t use any harsh products or chemicals on your skin. 
  5. For 24-48 hours after your treatment, avoid products like topical acne creams, retinol, glycolic, alpha hydroxy, beta hydroxy and benzyl peroxide. 
  6. For 3 – 7 days after your treatment, you can continue using retinoid products that your doctor prescribed to you. These include Adapalene, Avage, Differin, Tazorac, Tazarotene or Retin A, Renova, Tretinoin, Avita, Alustra or other brands of Tretinoin.
  7. Avoid tanning for at least a week after your treatment. 
  8. Although you might experience some peeling after your treatment, using moisturizer might help you reduce the peeling.
  9. Avoid sun exposure as much as possible for at least a week after your microdermabrasion treatment. UV rays will damage your skin, slowing down your skin’s recovery. If you cannot avoid the sun at all, you can use a 30SPF + broad-spectrum sunscreen.
