The main reason people do Dermaplaning is to remove the vellus hairs on their faces, also known as peach fuzz. This treatment is also used to exfoliate the skin and remove the outer layer of built up dead skin cells from the epidermis.

Instructions

Pre-Treatment
Post-Treatment
  1. Wash your face with a gentle, acid-free cleanser, tepid water and avoid topical products that contain alpha or beta hydroxyl acids, retinol or Retin A for approximately 72 hours or longer. If irritation occurs after applying the above products, wait a few more days to allow your skin to heal.
  2. Under no circumstances should you use a product that abrades the skin within 72 hours.
  3. No scrubs, polishers or aggressive brushes should be used for 7 days.
  4. Avoid facial waxing for 7 days.
  5. Avoid sun exposure as much as possible for a minimum of 3 days post-treatment. If you must be in the sun, apply SPF 30 or greater, reapply often, wear a wide-brimmed hat, and seek shade when possible. Be careful of sun exposure and wear sunscreen daily for 2 weeks.
  6. Avoid excessive heat 3 days post-treatment, i.e. heavy workouts, steam rooms or saunas, etc.
  7. Avoid chlorine for 24 hours.
  8. Don’t submerge the treated area in a chlorinated pool or a hot tub for the next 3 to 5 days.
  9. Do not pick, scratch or aggressively rub the treated area.
  10. Do apply serums as absorption levels with being elevated.
  1. After your microneedling procedure, it’s important to avoid the sun as much as possible.
  2. If possible, completely stay out of the direct sun for 10 days after or more, after your microneedling treatment.
  3. It’s also important not to use sunscreen on your treatment area for at least 12 hours after the treatment. Some sunscreen products contain toxic elements that may be damaging to your freshly microneedled skin.
  4. For 72 hours after your appointment, avoid intense exercise.
  5. Do not apply make-up for at least 72 hours after the treatment.
  6. If you have a history of cold sores or acne breakouts, you may get a response from your microneedling treatment. However, your doctor can recommend medication for you.
  7. After a few hours after your treatment, wash your face with tepid water by massaging it gently to get rid of any treatment products or blood.
  8. For the first 3-4 days the skin will be very dry and feel tight.
  9. You may notice redness and swelling for the first 2 days after your treatment.
  10. To reduce the post-treatment swelling, sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated.
  11. If it’s comfortable, you can continue using your regular skincare routine, 2-3 days after your treatment.
  12. For 10-14 days after your microneedling procedure, do not use toners that are alcohol-based.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dermaplaning?

During a dermaplaning session, your aesthetician uses a medical-grade scalpel designed to scrape (not cut) across the surface of the skin to remove peach fuzz and to exfoliate the skin, leaving you glowing.

What does Dermaplaning do?

The main reason people do it is to remove the vellus hairs on their faces, also known as peach fuzz. Peach fuzz can appear almost colorless, blonde, gray, or brown (or the same color as the hair on your head).

Everyone has these fine vellus hairs coating our bodies, and they are meant to add another layer of protection to the skin. But some people’s vellus hairs are thicker and more visible than others, and so they might want to have it removed.

Also, in a lot of cases, the vellus hair cannot be treated using a laser due to its color and thinness of the follicle.

This treatment is also used to exfoliate the skin and remove the outer layer of built-up dead skin cells from the epidermis.

Does Dermaplaning hurt?

No, there is no discomfort from a Dermaplaning treatment.

What can I expect during a Dermaplaning session?

Your Dermaplaning session will be done by one of our aestheticians certified in Dermaplaning treatment.

The first step is to clean and tone your face with our medical-grade products.

Next, your aesthetician then begins to use the medical-grade scalpel to remove away the vellus hair as well as dead skin off the epidermis of the face.

How long does Dermaplaning take?

One Dermaplaning takes about 45 minutes.

Is there downtime after a Dermaplaning treatment?

There is no downtime and your skin will be left feeling smooth as well as looking flawless and glowing.
